These last sentences of one of the document brings back lots of memory........tells me what was my goal...what have I achieved so far...how far I am from my goal...and how much I need to work harder...

Maybe I should stop writing now - but before I do so- these famous lines of a poem written by Robert Frost have started whirling in my mind... -

error while installing apache or php in ubuntu 8.04

while trying to install apache or php in ubuntu through terminal and by using command like

sudo -apt-get install apache2

if error is generated saying "sudo: please use single character options...."

try using

sudo apt-get install apache2

Mostly, this time it should work without giving any error !!

Installing php5 on ubuntu

In terminal try this command,

sudo -apt-get install php5

To make a test php file

sudo gedit /var/www/testphp.php

The above command will open an editor with the above file name

location of apache in ubuntu

In Ubuntu, Apache gets installed generally in the folder

/etc/init.d/

There you can find folder called apache2

How to start apache on Ubuntu 8.04

First try the command

sudo -apt-get install apache2

The above command should install apache2 if its not there in the system

Most probably once u install it, it will start automatically that time.You can check by typing localhost in browser.

To start stop or restart apache explicitly run following command

Start
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start

Stop
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 stop

Restart

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

"Cinco de Mayo" that is Spanish for 5th of May, is a regional holiday in Mexico, it's not a federal holiday though. This day is celebrated for commemorating the victory of General Ignacio of Mexico over French forces in battle of puebla.

But this day is celebrated more in America, rather than by the people of Mexico. There is also a prevailing misconception among many Americans that this day is "Independence day of Mexico", but that s not true. Mexican's Independence day is on 16th september.

Yet, Americans party harder on 5th May, whatever may be the reason. And in a way its good, because there only needs to be a reason to party...who cares if reason is right or wrong !!!

So enjoy "Cinco de Mayo" !!!
